Desert Heritage: Artist's Collection of Blunt's Original Arab Horses

P.J. Gazder, the noted specialist on Arab blood lines, writes:

„One of the most interesting exhibits at the Crabbet Centenary celebrations at Newbuildings Place in June 1978, was the group of paintings by Peter Upton representing the original stallions and mares of the Crabbet Stud. These were representations, reconstructed from old records and indistinct photographs, which attempted to show, as accurately as is now possible, what the originals must have looked like when alive.

These paintings are to be found within the pages of this book and contribute to a notable tradition in English Sporting art, that of illustrating famous horses for posterity.“
